It was really pretty but extremely hot. For whatever reasons the brazilians believe that it is great to start a Matathon at 7:30 with the Sun already up and burning and only provide water at every 2.5 miles.
I enjoyed it though. It was great to run through places that made part of my life. Great memories....

Adding up to the list of things that t I decided to do in my homeland many years after leaving it I signed up for the Rio de Janeiro Marathon to be held on July 17th!
I personally believe that Rio de Janeiro is one of the most beautiful city in the world but just the thought of running a marathon along that beautiful landscape gets me very excited. Despite the fact that I have lived in Rio for 25 years I still lose my breath every time I visit. I truly believe that the Rio de Janeiro Marathon course is the most beautiful in the world. See the pics below and let me know if you agree...

This is my last update from my running project. Last week I completed the last 39.3 miles running the Walt Disney Marathon and Half Marathon.
I have to confess that back in March after I confirmed my registration to the run the Goofy Challenge only two months after the NYC Marathon I questioned myself if that was not a little crazy. I do not know if Disney computers are able to read our minds but the fact is that when I went to their website to look for their refund policy I was redirected to a page with the quote from Walt Disney : “If you can dream it, you can do it”. I guess this is the Disney way to say they do not issue refunds... lol...
Despite the cold weather the races were incredible and I had a lot of fun. I also had a great recovery with no pains, aches or injuries. After the Marathon I even spent the day walking around Epcot.
Once again I would like to tank you for the support and and encouragement. I am also glad to hear that several of you have registered or plan to register to running events as well.
Last but not least thank you for your donations. I know that there is a lot of need out there and we are all asked to support many causes. If you may still donate directly at the Developing Minds Website (http://www.developingmindsfoundation.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=53&Itemid=100 ).

Today when I crossed the finish line at Epcot (2:22:54 and beat my prior best time by 36s) I completed 39.3 race miles of my 65.5 Miles goal. Since then I cannot think of anything else other that these last 26 miles....
Although I was feeling way more sore than I expected, after a 45 minutes ice bath start to feel brand new ("numb" would probably be a more descriptive word but let's keep it positive).
Once again I would like to thank everyone again for all the support, the encouragement, the jokes etc...
Also thank you very much for the charitable donations. If you still want to donate there is time (http://www.developingmindsfoundation.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=53&Itemid=100). You may donate by credit card, paypal or check.
All right, I am heading to an early night as I will be back to the course by 4 am tomorrow but I will send the last update on Monday!!!!!!!!

Wow. November 7th 2010 was definitely a day to remember. It is hard to describe all the magic and energy of this day with words. In the best of my dreams I could not have made it more perfect!!!!
Thank you everyone for the support before, during and after the race. I really enjoyed the real time interaction on facebook and SMS. It made me feel like you were running with me. Hope you liked the pics along the way!!!
On the fundraising front, the last blitz for Team for Kids last week helped me raise additional $500!!!!!!! In total we donated $2,620 for the cause and the Team for Kids campaign raised a record 4 Million Dollars this year to support physical education programs for low income kids.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!!

We are just two days away from the New York Marathon and tonight I have finished my last run before the race. I am ready and very excited. Since May I logged 632 miles and feel great!!! I would like to thank everyone for the support and my family for being so understanding during all this time.
I also would like to thank all of you who helped me raise funds for the Team for Kids cause. We have raised $1517 so far. Those of you who have not had the opportunity to donate, there is still time!!!! I am still $1103 short of my pledged amount and your support will be greatly appreciated. In marathon terms I am 11 miles away from the finish line at Central Park (right before I cross the first bridge to Manhattan). I can promise you that on Sunday I will make to the finish with a smile on my face. Please help me make my fundraising goal for this great cause as well!!!
Some of you expressed concerns about the security of the Team for Kids website so I decided to set up a Paypal donation account directly from my website. You may donate by going to my website ( www.alexmoura.com ) and clicking on the Donate Button or directly trough the following link: https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_flow&SESSION=N5Jw-fNNWisuyU0EpFoCxJumV-hH3qtr9pW9LbMHG8w0cTQXQ9c3mC8z9ey&dispatch=5885d80a13c0db1f8e263663d3faee8dc60d77e6184470d55d73a93d5b9f6c6e
(I will cover any fees related to the transfer and make sure that 100% of your donation is passed on to Team for Kids.)
I will post a few tweets (http://twitter.com/65MilesForKids) and pictures before and after the race. If time permits ( I plan to finish under 5 hours) I will post some mobile pictures to facebook (http://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=541795694) from my phone live from the course!!!!!!!!!
Once again thank you every one for all the support.
